With more than 80 countries and as a part of the DAAD, IAESTE offers up to 1000 internships exchanges for Germany.

Local Committee Saarbruecken

The Local Committee in Saarbruecken is one of more than 60 Local Committees in Germany. Consisting of active and former students, we are a group who have fun in meeting people from all over the world.
We are providing traineeships for students of the University of Saarbruecken (Outgoing). Furthermore, we support foreign trainees who are doing an internship in Saarbruecken (Incoming). We organize the housing of the Incomers, assist them with administrative formalities, help them to settle in Saarbruecken and organize a lot of spare time activities, such as weekend trips to other cities, cultural program in Saarbruecken and its surrounding, cooking together and so on.
Our work is voluntarily.

History

IAESTE was founded in 1948 in London and has sent more than 300 000 students to over 85 countries so far. Germany is a member of the IAESTE program since 1950. It is represented by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Structure of IAESTE

Every member country of IAESTE consists of a national committee (NC) and several local committees (LC) at the participating universities. In Germany the national committee is represented by a department of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). IAESTE is supported by the The Federal Ministry of Education and Research and The Federal Foreign Office. The local committees consist of committed students of the particular university. In other cases the International Offices take care of the assignments of IAESTE.

Assignments

The local committees (LC) receive the applications from German students for internships abroad. These internships, usually lasting from 8 to 12 weeks, will be arranged free of charge. Additionally the LCs support the foreign trainees in the respective city. This includes for example finding accommodation, dealing with the authorities and organizing social program to get to know the receiving country.

Aims

IAESTE internships offer a better practical relevance to students of engineering, science, agriculture, forestry, architecture and applied arts. Furthermore the internhips offer an opportunity to gain an insight to the life, the culture and the way of thinking of other cultures and people.
